Mulberries (Morus alba)

Mulberry fruit is classified in the modern Chinese Materia Medica as a blood tonic. Traditionally, mulberry fruit has been used as a medicinal agent to nourish the yin and blood, benefit the kidneys, and to treat weakness, fatigue, and anemia. It is useful during or after a long illness as a restorative and is known to be alkalizing to the system. Mulberries contain a significant amount of resveratrol (a phytoalexin). Studies have shown resveratrol to have anti-cancer, antiviral, neuroprotective, and anti-inflammatory effects. Mulberries are rich in vitamin A, potassium, phosphorus and calcium. They are a good source of dietary fiber, riboflavin, magnesium, and a great source of vitamin C, vitamin K, and iron. Our mulberries are organically grown in Turkey, sun dried, and fairly traded.

Suggested use: Add to your favorite smoothie or sprinkle on top of cereal, add to trail mix, eat with raw nuts, or just by the handful!

Suggested serving size: A handful a day, or more or less, depending on your preference.
