The Herbal Apothecary got its start in 1981 by the late pharmacist Dr. Tom Dunphy. In 1998, Karen Aguiar and Terri Jensen took over the ownership and operation and expanded into a full-line herbal pharmacy preparing both Chinese and Western Herbal Extracts. They are long-term herbalists and medicine-makers who have been in the herbal field for more than 25 years.

They live in the rolling hills of Northern California. The Herbal Apothecary lab sits on ten beautiful acres of open fields, wooded areas, organic apple and pear orchards, and agricultural preserve land which is graced with many wild medicinal herbs and abundant wildlife.

More than Twenty-five Years Later they still use the time-honored tradition of making small batches crafted by hand, using only the best quality herbs and raw materials available, to achieve the highest standards of liquid extracts possible.
